latinamericanWorcester's Annual Latin American Festival is taking place this Saturday from 12 noon to 9pm. The event is free and will have live Latin American music, food and even a Children's Tent which will have multicultural art activities provided by the Worcester Art Museum and Centro Las Americas, a rock climbing wall provided by the Higgins Armory Museum and face painting by Estrellita.

This event is presented by the local Centro Las Americas, an organization that was started back in 1977 to "serve, empower and advocate for the Latin American Community in Greater Worcester". Central Mass and Worcester have a significant Latino community estimated at about 15% as of the last census.  Mayor Lukes (who has a photograph on the website) and the City of Worcester are also sponsors of the event along with the Massachusetts Cultural Council
and the Greater Worcester Community Foundation.

Some of the artists on tap include Papi Sanchez, Local 34, Grandes Ligas and Jose Alberto otherwise known as "El Canario". This event is a great opportunity for the Central Mass/Worcester Latin American Community to come out and celebrate their heritage. It is also a good for others who want to experience the unique culture and food that is a part of our area.
