Not too many things in life are free. The Patriots training camp is a great family experience and it is surprisingly free. My husband and I have lived in Massachusetts all our lives but have never attended the New England Patriots Training Camps. We are big sports fans so we thought we would bring our children down to Foxborough to see how much we could see. Our expectations were not that high, boy were we delightfully surprised.
The training camp doesn't take place within Gillette Stadium, that is actually a good thing. It takes place at a smaller field next to the Dana Farber Field House. We went on Saturday and since it was pretty hot people kept rotating in and out of the small bleacher seats so you could get a chance to see the Patriots in action. My son is a big Tom Brady fan(who isn't) so he was pretty excited to see them this close. My daughter also really enjoyed the experience. We went to the morning practice and the only one of the players that we missed was Randy Moss who we later found out only practices once a day. Tom Brady actually came down and signed autographs but unfortunately we were a little too far to get his attention.
The Patriots also have something they call Patriots Experience which is an amusement type park adjacent to the stadium. They have different games that you can take part in and some of the Patriots Cheerleaders show up now and then. You do have to sign a waiver before you can go in though.

My family and I also took the opportunity to visit Patriot Place the huge mall that the Kraft family recently built out there. It is mainly an outdoor type of mall with every store you can think of. The highlight of the mall for us was lunch at CBS Scene which is a restaurant all about CBS television. There is a TV in every booth. I was having a hard time keeping my son from playing with it.
New England Patriots Training Camp seems to be open at least through the end of this week. The trip is a little less than an hour from Worcester and makes for a good family day trip. It is well worth it and is probably a better option for those with younger kids than going to a real game. We are thinking about going to a pre-season game which might also be a better choice for kids.
