Blackstone Valley’s First Fall Family Festival

fallpumpkinsThe small Central Massachusetts town of Whitinsville is the home of the first Fall Family Festival sponsored by the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce.  Located less than 30 minutes from Worcester families will be able to enjoy bunch of activities including if you can believe it a pumpkin catapult(who knew).

I have noticed the term agri-tourism being thrown around a lot lately.  I think it is because people are looking for simpler things after the challenges of the economic downturn.  The truth is that agritourism has been around a long time.  Think of all the apple picking, pumpkin picking and farm tours that exist in New England.  This time of year is well-known for it.

The big sell for me are the kids activities which will include Worcester favorites Finz (from the Worcester Sharks) and Twister (from the Worcester Tornadoes).  Kids activities will include:

Kids of all ages will enjoy hay rides, horseback riding and jumping demonstrations by Azrael Acres Riding Stable, a round of miniature golf, a petting zoo, Bo Bo the Clown, a bee keeping demonstration by Sweet Briar Florist, face painting, a Nubian goat exhibit and demonstration, and pumpkin painting by Dog Orphans.

The festival takes place this Saturday October 10th from 11am to 6pm at the West End Creamery in Whitinsville.  This is a free event.  For more information here.
