Central Mass Will Walk for Juvenile Diabetes

jdrfworcesterWorcester State College will be the location for the Worcester Walk to Cure Diabetes. The walk will be taking place Sunday October 18th so there is time to register to participate in this great cause.  As the debate over healthcare and healthcare costs continues in Washington it is clear that certain diseases cost the nation more.  If you look at the Fact Sheets supplied at the JDRF website you can see that Diabetes costs the US approximately $12,000 per person versus approximately $3,000 for someone without diabetes.

Diabetes affects nearly $24 million Americans who deal with a slew of resulting consequences from the disease.  These can include heart attack, stroke, blindness, and kidney damage.  The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation mission is to find a cure for the disease and its complications.

The Worcester walk is a great opportunity for participants from Central Massachusetts to participate in this family event that will help raise funds for JDRF.  The goal is to raise $402,500 so register or contribute or volunteer or all of the above!  It is highly recommended that you register online to take advantage of the online support tools including your own fundraising web page but registration can also be done the day of.  Registration will start and 9:30am and the walk begins at 10:30am.  The walk is 5k or approximately 3 miles…
