dcudemocraticThe DCU Center is no stranger to hosting politicians.  One of the most famous democrats President Bill Clinton visited the Worcester DCU Center this past June.  According to the Telegram Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray announced the Worcester DCU Center as the 2010 Massachusetts Democratic State Convention location.  This is great news since these types of conventions tend to bring many visitors and therefore increased spending at the local hotels and restaurants.  Something that is very needed in Central Massachusetts at this time.

You may already know that the Massachusetts Republican Party will also be holding their convention the DCU Center in Worcester.  This will take place in April while the Democratic Convention will be in June.  It is interesting that both parties picked this Central Massachusetts location.  It is a testament to the greater importance that other parts of Massachusetts are playing not only in politics but on the Bay State economy overall.

The Governors race is set to be pretty interesting since the polls show that support for Governor Patrick has waned.  On the Republican side there seems to be palpable excitement with Charles Baker former president of Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare entering the race.
