Worcester 2010 Halloween Planning Guide
The Halloween Planning Guide for Worcester is back for 2010. Planning your Halloween Activities can be challenging in the midst of all the activity in the Fall. It is the first real “holiday” of the season. Like last year we are providing the information in a 3 part series of posts with the first focusing on where to buy costumes and even how to make your own. It will then be followed up with advice for planning your Halloween Party and then Halloween Events and Activities you might enjoy.
Costumes continue to be expensive though this year I did find an online retailer that seems to provide some savings depending on the costume that you buy. Costume Discounters offer a good selection of popular costumes including Lady Gaga costumes that seem to be hot this year. If you know the costume you are looking for it is good to check a variety of retailers and if they are online you should make sure to include the shipping costs. With about 11 days left there is time to buy online. The list of online retailers can be found at the end of this post.
Costumes can be just a fantastic game of dress up or they can be an attempt to be as scary as possible. Buying a costume for your children definitely gets interesting the older they get because they no longer want to look cute. For certain ages superheroes continue to be popular especially with movies continuing to be released for things like Iron Man and Harry Potter. For older kids(including some adults) vampires are really hot especially with the popularity of Twilight and the Vampire Chronicles.
Besides or instead of the online Halloween Stores you can also check locally in Worcester area. Like last year our recommended choices for physical stores are:
- Halloween Outlet located at 540 West Boylston St in Worcester
- Halloween Costume World located at 480 Water St in Fitchburg
The Halloween Outlet is a popular family owned business that was featured by Worcester Love on their popular video series. I would embed the video they did hear but to be honest it’s a little scary and as mentioned at the beginning of the video may not be appropriate for kids. So here is the link to YouTube for it. Please keep in mind some of the local stores may have an online shopping option.
As we did last year we are including a video by the Frugal Yankee folks that has updated ideas for making your own costumes. This is a good option not only just to save money. You can turn it into a creative project for yourself or your kids.
Here is the list of Online Halloween Stores we reviewed:
