This summer our family was able to visit Worcester’s Ecotarium for the first time.  We didn’t quite know what to expect since it is a bit of a mix between park and science museum.  Our kids got a big kick out of the bubble display and the displays regarding the animals and their environments.  It was quite interactive.  We also got a chance to get some exercise walking around the park.

Each year around this time the Smithsonian coordinates a nationwide event for free admission to many of the museums across the country.  This is a great way to try a museum for free.  We have written about this event in the past and the Worcester – Central Mass have a bunch of museum venues that participate including the Ecotarium.

In today’s economy everyone is looking for a coupon to save them money.  By going to the Smithsonian Magazine website and signing up to receive a ticket/coupon by email you have a few hours of entertainment, education and enlightenment all for the price of zero.  If you have a large family you will only be able to get entry for 2 for free but that is significant savings in any case.

The usual Worcester Museums are participating in the Free Museum day but if you want a complet list of those participating in all of Massachusetts here is the link to the List of Massachusetts Museums partipating in the event.  The coupons will be available for this Saturday, September 24th, 2011.
